Paul Gallagher - Biography
Paul Gallagher grew up in Northeast Ohio, where he began practicing magic at the tender age of just 5 years old. Through his teen years, he could be found performing at venues as diverse as the local Rotary club, children's birthday parties and upscale events at area country clubs. He was well known in his hometown of Elyria, Ohio and was frequently featured in the local press as well as the Cleveland-area papers during his youth. He eventually appeared on every local television station and even several radio (!) stations doing magic. He once predicted the headlines of the Plain Dealer a week in advance on AM 1100 radio in Cleveland.
It didn't take long for Paul to become a greatly respected citizen of the international magic community. Not only does he amaze and astound audiences, but he has invented numerous tricks that have amazed prominent fellow magicians. His blockbuster video "Miracles from the Sock Drawer" - exclusively for magicians - received rave reviews in U.S. and European magic magazines, and has been much praised by magic's "Inner Circle." His constant creativity keeps him in contact with magicians throughout the world, and several of his creations have been performed on television by well-known performers.
While attending Columbia University in New York City, Paul sought out and became the protégé of one of magic's legendary sleight-of-hand artists, the late Derek Dingle, who Paul had first read about in Time magazine back in Elyria. Under Dingle's masterful guidance, Paul honed his sophisticated brand of close-up magic. The twenty-five intervening years have developed Paul's magic to a rare state of excellence. His deft way around a deck of cards and various other ordinary, everyday objects sets him apart from other magicians. For instance, he is renowned for inviting YOU and all his spectators to bring their own cards to a performance and watch the real magic unfold with your own items.
After Columbia, Paul attended Yale University where he made many contacts which would prove fruitful in the world of business and tradeshow performance. Hired by college friends who went on to run major businesses, Paul impressed his clients by drawing large crowds to their show booths, or "wowing" key clients with his original magic at hospitality suites and private performances. With a Master's Degree in English Language and Literature, and a well-earned reputation as a quick-witted, all-around nice guy comfortable in any group, Paul wins audiences over and garnered much positive attention for his clients, and their products and services.
Though he travels both near and far to entertain audiences of all kinds and teach cutting-edge magic to other magicians, Paul calls Northeast Ohio "home." His most magical feat? He claims it's easily his 22-year-old daughter Bailey.
